Tuffen Glass: It is manufactured by heating it to the point where it becomes soft and then cooled rapidly. This process is known as thermal tempering. Tempered glass is four times stronger than annealed glass and therefore it is widely used in modern faced or glazing places where strength in glass is required. The major benefit of tempered glass is that when it shatters it breaks into pebbles and thus does not cause serious injuries to the people around it. Safety glass manufacturers are in great demand in the construction industry because this glass is used in all the modern construction for safety, style and strength purposes.
The growing demand of tempered glass manufacturers and suppliers shows us the pace with which this industry is growing. The reason of this tremendous growth is nothing but the benefits of tempered glass that we get in many forms. Let’s elaborate each point to have a better view of tempered glass.

Safety: Every day we witness several accidents around us. Though we take precautions we do not have control over many of them. Hence, safety glass manufacturers came up with an idea of minimizing this risk to a greater extent. If in an accident or hit, when tempered glass shatters it disintegrates into small pieces or pebbles hence doesn’t cause injury. Even if it does it will not be serious.

Strength: The strength of tempered glass is mainly due to its manufacturing process. In the tempering process annealed glass is heated over 600 degrees and later cooled with air jets. Due to this the core of glass takes longer time to get cooled and the surface cools first and becomes stiff immediately. And that is how it becomes strong and at the same time heat resistant.

Style: The strength of fully tempered glass is commendable and therefore it gives great freedom to designers to use or mold it into varied shapes. It actually brought about the revolution in the designer field where glass plays key role.

Other benefits: Using tempered glass in public buildings ensures the safety of thousands of employees or workers who work there. Furthermore, if it breaks it is not difficult to clean it and it ensures the safety of people who clean it.
Now you know the benefits of tempered glass. Let’s understand the key points that the safety glass manufacturers remember in order to deliver the best quality of tempered glass. Following are some points that should be avoided in the manufacturing process.

Optical Distortion: Often you can see waviness in a reflected image in fully tempered glass when looking at it from a distance. This happens due to the contact of rollers while the manufacturing process is in the horizontal tempering furnace. Hence it is necessary to ensure that the roller wave should be in parallel position to the horizontal glass dimension.

Roller marks: Many times glass breaks during the manufacturing process. These glass pieces, if not cleaned from the furnace or surface rollers leave small whitish marks which become visible along the line of glass movement.

Waviness and bending: The heating till softening point and rapid cooling of tempered glass or constant stress during the manufacturing process leads to associate certain warp and bow on every glass piece. This often leads to falsified images while viewing in certain specific conditions. However, this is an inherited process and cannot be avoided.

Edge strength: The edge of fully tempered glass plays a key role in its strength and at the same time it is the weakest point of the glass. Though it is far stronger than annealed glass it is weaker then the central part of tempered glass. During the heating and cooling process the edge is heated and cooled down first. Hence, the operating procedure and operator play an important aspect in making the edge strong.

Fragmentation: Though the tempered glass is stronger and doesn’t break easily the emphasis is given on its fragmentation. If the glass breaks into bigger pieces it means the quality of tempered glass is not good. However, after shattering on impact if the glass fragments into fine and pebble like pieces than it belongs to an excellent quality. The manufacturer of tempered glass remains very careful at this section.

Coating Burns: Reflective glasses are designed in a way that should take long for tempering. Glasses which pass through more high temperature pockets in the furnace become more heat resistance. For this reason many manufacturers use excess amounts of high temperatures and this causes harm to glass which is known as coating burns. It is necessary to use the right method and the right amount of heat. Furthermore, the glass which has coating burns can be used by removing a small area of the edge by the CNC machine.
