I love cloth.
My grandfather owned a textile mill. On holidays, I would go to his mill and accompany him when he went to buy, sell and discuss cloth. I saw all the processes that go into making cloth - spinning, weaving, printing, dyeing.
My nana would explain terms like warp, weft and how to choose and manufacture good, strong cloth. He showed me the beauty of hand made cloth.
I owe my first attraction and love for cloth to him.
His daughters, my mum and her two sisters, would choose designs, textures, colours, embroideries for their sarees. I grew up there.
My love of detail in design and my taste in clothes comes from them.
Queen of Hearts is my new company where I plan to enjoy my work with cloth. The first collection is a line of sarees and dupattas with colours, textures, motifs that my mum, her sisters, my daughter and I would wear.
I'm having fun. Queen of Hearts says hello to you.
