Pratham began working in the state of Punjab in 2006. Some key programmes are:

Read India is active in 13 blocks across 11 districts.

Pratham's Vocational Training programme focuses on enhancing English reading and writing, digital literacy and personality development across 7 locations in the state.

Special Programmes

Pratham Supported Schools are present in 13 blocks.

In collaboration with IKEA Foundation, an integrated programme reaching children both in-school and out-of-school is being implemented in 6 blocks across the state. The target group is typically children who should be in Std. 3-8.

Government Tie Ups

In 2008, a state wide partnership was undertaken with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). The project was named 'Parrho Punjab', and it focused on improving learning levels of children in basic reading and arithmetic in government primary schools across the state. Owing to its successful implementation, 'Parrho Punjab' is featured as a promising approach to elementary education in the Twelfth Plan document of the Government of India.
