Pragati Sangha is a society registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 with a registration No-KAM/240/L/60 of 2001-2002 was formed with a mission to work for the welfare of the people of the area around Kamrup (M). Since inception, the society has been working for the holistic and sustainable development of poor and marginalized population in Kamrup (M) district and other parts of Assam.



Pragati Sangha is one of the empanelled organizations of district Disaster Management Authority, Kamrup (Metro). Hence, the organization has got the opportunity to conduct Mock drills and Evacuation drill for Earthquake & Fire under National School Safety programme organized by DDMA, Kamrup (M) in 40 nos. of schools (20 nos. of Schools in the month of September, 2013 and 20 nos. of Schools in October-November, 2013).

Pragati Sangha also took part in the “Clean Guwahati Initiative” conducted by I-Positive Foundation under DDMA, Kamrup (Metro) as one of the surveying agencies.

Apart from the above mentioned activities Pragati Sangha has also conducted some other awareness programes like AIDS Awareness Campaign, Road Safety Programs etc, National Science Day Celebration, conducted Plantation Programs in various localities in regards to World Environment Day celebration, distributed plant saplings among students of Shishu Sarathi on the occasion of Children’s Day to create awareness on Environment conservation.

Pragati Sangha had conducted some training programs on Jute Crafts, Handicrafts, and Embroidery Crafts etc. Pragati Sangha also has conducted various Health Camps in various places in Guwahati city. They NGO Pragati Sangha had given free consultation to the residents of Zoo Road, the most Dengue affected area of Guwahati city as well as in Gandhibasti and Ambari areas.

Pragati Sangha had submitted a proposal on Community Cleanliness Drive Project (a pilot project initiative under Integrated Guwahati Flood Management Project) at District Disaster Management Authority, Kamrup (Metro). The project is already started on 5th of January, 2014 and covered Srimantapur area, Chilarai Nagar area and Lachit Nagar area. This project also creates awareness on proper garbage disposal method among people resided in Guwahati city. At present Pragati Sangha is working under GMC Ward No. 18 for door to door collection of Municipal Solid Waste covering 7000+ households. From 4th of January 2016, the NGO Pragati Sangha have started “MANASA MODEL AREA” a pilot project initiative to start segregation practice at household level, as well as to set up waste processing plant to produce usable by-products.

Pragati Sangha is also working for social & economical upliftment of people of all stratas (both Urban and Rural) of the society, Conservation of Nature & Wildlife and creating awareness among people in relate to Disaster Management, Health & Family Welfare etc., developmental works in the field of Agriculture, spread knowledge in the form of Education among the children & adult people of Assam and other states of North-East and development of area in all spheres.
