Ahmedabad The city’s first double-decker flyover is slated to come up at CTM crossing, one of the busiest and most congested traffic junctions of the city, by February 2011. According to a survey conducted by the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (Cept) University on various traffic junctions in the city, CTM crossroads had the maximum traffic volume of over 10,000 passengers car unit (PCU) during peak hours. According to AMC authorities, the flyover will resolve traffic woes at the national highway and daily commuters will be able to go from Maninagar-Hatkeshwar to Vadodara Express highway without waiting at the junction for long through upper level flyover. The lower level flyover connects Hatkeshwar to Vastral-Ramol area. Once built, the upper level flyover connecting Hatkeshwar to Narol expressway will be one of the longest fly over with a length of around a kilometre and height of around 15 meters from ground level and the lower level flyover will be at height of around 5.5 metres. The official said, “The project will cost the civic body Rs 43 crore.” At present, there five flyovers are coming up on the Narol-Naroda stretch and 10 other projects are also under construction.
