A BRIEF HISTORY OF MCSU, AIZAWL ZONE:

The Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union (MCSU), Aizawl Zone has its office at Chakma House, Aizawl. Aizawl, being the capital of Mizoram, a large number of Chakma students come from different corners of the state to pursue their studies in the city. Hence, it was felt that a Chakma organization was the need of the hour to look after the issues and problems faced by them. Keeping this point of view, the MCSU, Aizawl Zone was finally established in 2004. The main objective behind the formation of MCSU Zone in Aizawl is to build a healthy relationship amongst the Chakma students and to develop a welfare interchange amongst them. Since its inception, the Union has been actively participating in different fields of social work. The Union has been tirelessly involved in rendering its invaluable services for the upliftment and advancement of the Chakma community. Every year the MCSU, Aizawl Zone organizes Voluntary Blood Donation Camp, Sports’ Meet, Picnic and Fresher’s Social in which the students participate actively. The Union also periodically organizes some Community Awareness Campaigns in the Chakma inhabited areas of Mamit District. The first executive body of the Union was led by Mr. Gyana Wansa Chakma. Chronologically, the present body is the 11th Executive Committee of the Union and is presently leading by Mr. Keshaw Muni Chakma as the President.
