VISION:
BASF aims to build an independent and sustainable platform of Dalit and Adivasi students where they will continuously strive to access education, take up higher education, get socially, legally and politically aware to fight against the exclusion and discrimination based on caste and class towards living a life with respect and dignity.

Description
BASF - Bihar Ambedkar Students’ Forum is a state level forum of Dalit and Adivasi students studying in school, colleges and university. This forum is an initiative of Centre for social equity and inclusion (CSEI) and other Dalit and Adivasi led organisations working for making educational right a reality for excluded children and youth. This forum aims to organize and create support mechanism for Dalit and Adivasi girls, boys, educated Dalit and Adivasi youth, and adolescents towards non discriminatory, equitable, quality and inclusive education to a full course of education and establish the link between schooling, personality development and higher education.

Recognizing the agency of children and youth, a new generation among the community, in taking the education agenda forward, Bihar Ambedkar Students Forum (BASF) has been promoting an institutional structure that can carry the engagement with students in a campaign mode recognizing the need to promote concerned citizens (children and youth) themselves to own and drive the agenda of social change and educational mobility. Several school and college going students are being mobilized by the district level Community Led Organisations under the banner of BASF. The BASF has been creating several spaces and opportunities for students and youth to acquire leadership skills, knowledge and awareness on social, legal and political issues, strategies to promote equity and inclusion in education and struggle to demand and achieve educational rights.

Important Activities so far:
1. Education Dignity Week: An annual celebration to rewards students, educated youth, community members, teachers etc who has been part of education system to bring significant change in their lives and/or ensure educational rights of students.
2. Education Resource Centre (ERC) – An institutionalize space for students to gather, to study and learn, to discuss and chalk out their weekly plans according to the needs of each students in their panchayat.
3. Navodaya Ab Door Nahi (Dream not very far anymore) – A campaign to facilitate students towards accessing entry to special schools across all districts
4. Leadership Training on social, legal and political awareness and knowledge enhancement
5. Khel se Mel ( Play for Peace) as an instrument to promote social inclusion in schools and society
6. Higher Education Link Programme (HELP) – An initiative to link and facilitate students to avail opportunities arising in the field of higher education. BASF aims to have a state level help line number for students in coming days.
7. Post a Letter for Right to Education (RtE) – Each unit of ASF in the state post monthly letters to authorities and concerned people to ensure accountability in proper functioning of their schools.
8. Learning Journeys – Several exposures programme is being organized for students to meet youth across countries, learn and demonstrate leadership skills, build perspective and vision through acquiring knowledge and resources for their personal and social growth.
